A 20s Movie..
Hello hello! Today I will tell you about an amazing movie based on the 20s. It's the"Memoirs of a Geisha"..
with Ziyi Zhang, Ken Watanabe and Michelle Yeoh and directed by Rob Marshall (Nine, Chicago). The story is about a girl who is sold from her family to a geisha house. Even if in the beginning she was badly treated by the other women there, she ends up being the best geisha and she enters the high society.
However, World War II looms Japan and this changes completely the geisha's story..
I really like this movie because of the way it connects history, art, sensuality and beauty. It shows which was the behavior towards the little girls who were thought to be useless and the poor families used to sell them in order to make profit from them. It also makes clear the raise and the fall of the geishas and as a result that of the japanese civilisation. After the war european habits were adopted and the geishas' era was over.
So, have you seen the movie? What do you think of it??
See you, darlings!!
