Leeds Light Night

A few days ago I went with some friends to the Leeds Light Night. There we had the opportunity to explore the city which was illuminated with colorful lights that added a little bit of magic in the scenery of Leeds.

The show that I enjoyed the most was the Illuminos. The City Hall was lighted according to the story of the phoenix in the stone. While we were watching the captivating performance, from the speakers the story was being narrated. It was fascinating to see all those people gathered in the square in front of the city hall, listening to the story, like we were kids.

Each building had a different story to tell, and in some buildings you could even write your own story, as for example at the Waterline Graffiti. There, people could write or draw in light. From doodles to quotes and lyrics they used to express themselves, as if they were all alone.

Even if it was freezing cold, the things that we saw and experienced made us forget the low temperatures and enjoy the radiant night.

Πριν λίγες μέρες πήγα με μερικούς φίλους μου στο Leeds Light Night. Εκεί είχαμε την ευκαιρία να εξερευνήσουμε την πόλη, που ήταν φωτισμένη με πολύχρωμα φωτάκια που προσέθεταν λίγη μαγεία στο σκηνικό του Leeds.

Η παράσταση που απόλαυσα περισσότερο ήταν το Illuminos, όπου το Δημαρχείο ήταν φωτισμένο ανάλογα με την ιστορία του φοίνηκα μέσα στην πέτρα. Καθώς παρακολουθούσαμε την μαγευτική παράσταση, από τα ηχεία αφηγούνταν την ιστορία. Ήταν υπέροχο να βλέπεις όλους αυτούς τους ανθρώπους μαζεμένους στην πλατεία μπροστά από το Δημαρχείο, ακούγοντας την ιστορία σαν μικρά παιδιά.

Το κάθε κτίριο είχε μια ιστορία να αφηγηθεί, και σε μερικά κτίρια μπορούσες να πεις τη δική σου ιστορία, όπως για παράδειγμα στο Waterline Graffiti, όπου μπορούσες να γράψεις ή να ζωγραφίσεις στο φως. Από μουτζούρες μέχρι αποφθέγματα και στίχους, οι άνθρωποι χρησιμοποιούσαν το φως για να εκφραστούν σα να μην τους έβλεπε κανείς.

Ακόμα και αν έκανε πολύ κρύο, αυτά που είδαμε και βιώσαμε μας έκαναν να ξεχάσουμε προς στιγμή τις χαμηλές θερμοκρασίες και να απολαύσουμε αυτή τη λαμπερή βραδιά.
