The Contempt
Hello there!
Le Mepris or The Contempt as its english title is, is a film directed by Jean-Luc Godard. It stars Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli and Fritz Lang (playing himself). It's about an American film producer Jeremy Prokosch, who hires the Austrian director Fritz Lang to direct the film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. However, being dissatisfied by the film he hires Paul Javal (Piccoli) to rework the script. Then we witness the conflict between artistic expression and commercial opportunity while Paul estranges himself from his wife, Camille.

It's a film
not about relationships but also about the relationship between humans and the
gods. We continually see the comparison between the ancient greek gods, such as
Athena and Poseidon with the leading actors and they gradually become more than
average people. They become gods in the story of Odysseus, who has to face many
difficulties in order to return to his home. This is also a film about
betrayal. First the deceptions of the American producer, then the infidelity of
Camille and finally Javal's decision to accept the job of writing the script of
the movie.
Apart from
the plot and the dreamy music of the movie another thing that caught my
attention was the clothes of Brigitte Bardot, who incarnates the ultimate 60s
icon in the film industry. Stripes, midi skirts and headbands are a few of the
trends that we still see nowadays in the catwalk. But let's take a closer
look..
Headband
Pastel Dress
Stripes
Eyeliner
